About us

Why old fart motor club ?

Any body with offspring will know that when they become teenagers that they classify all people over the age of 30 as old farts or worse.
This is not gender specific and the first sign of a parent doing something that the kids do not understand like enjoying themselves or taking up a hobby usually end up with them asking what you doing that for.
Or do you need that as they are worried about thier inheritance.
I suppose we were the same, only our parents strived for a safe future while our generation tend to look back with a little nostalgia.
This is not a man thing, wives like mine have taken up dancing lessons, love 70 s music i.e.
Glam rock and would have me wearing platform boots and dancing to T-rex or the Sweet If I hadnt got a bad leg or two (honest)

Sorry I Digress

Basically I love old vehicles and my son does not understand So he said its an old farts thing and it stuck.

The club is made up of a group of friends that frequent a public house called the Omnibus tavern in Queensbury West Yorkshire.
The club was started when two of my friends who tend to be cautious with money (tight) where reminiscing over the old commercial vehicles in the classic and commercial magazine.
To be fair to them owning large vehicles tend to be a little prohibitive for your ever day man in the street.
Problems like storage, up keep and the financial element may restrict the enthusiast from owning and running them not to mention the cost of purchasing one.

The solution was simple, form a club where several like minded people could put in together to buy, run and restore a vehicle. After the purchase of our first vehicle had sent shock waves around the pub several other friends wanted to know why they had not been asked. The answer was we hadnt realised that they would be so much interest, so we put up a notice sure enough some weeks later we purchased our second vehicle And then a third. And so the club was formed. As the appeal has grown we would like more people to join in, dont worry you do not have to drink in our local and membership is free
